and payment app for all modes of transports

in Dubai called Integrated Mobility Platform

(IMP), which will give customers easy access

to all mass transit systems through a single

window or smart app.

Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and

chairman of the Board of Executive

Directors of RTA, said the IMP will achieve

integration of the RTA’smulti-modal transit

systems, including metro, tram, buses and

marine transit means, with Monorail in

Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Trolley. E-Hail

services, such as Uber and Careem, will be

integrated in a later stage through the IMP,

which enables the user to book the service

and pay the fare.

This came during Al Tayer›s attendance at

an innovation lab on Dubai IMP project,

which was organized by the RTA and

attended by more than 60 stakeholders and

a number of UAE and foreign consultants

and experts to study the technical and

legislative aspects of the project and the

customer service in order to achieve

the smooth flow of mobility options

information in Dubai.

Al Tayer stressed that the integrated

transport platform project in Dubai

achieves the RTA vision of providing a

«safe and smooth transport for all», and is

in consistent with the first strategic goal

«Smart Dubai» and the second strategic

goal «Integration of Dubai», as well as the

third strategic goal «Bringing Happiness to

People.»

Al Tayer added that the project will be

undertaken in several phases and is

expected to be concluded in 2017.

Phase

I

includes

developing

the

technological

infrastructure

of

the

platform, integrating RTA transit means

and integrating limo services of the Dubai

Taxi Corporation. It will also include

providing information about bikes, cycling

tracks and racks, starting the issuance of

operation permits for the electronic taxi

booking services such as Uber, Careem

and others, and developing a system for

organizational monitoring of limousine

services.

Phase II covers integrating electronic

taxi booking services, and establishing

agreements with transport partners and

integrating them in a partial manner with

the platform.

Phase III is concerned with holding

agreements with most stakeholders

to integrate them in the platform, and

establishing the payment process offered

by the platform using the Nol card.
