The UAE Federal National Council

approval of a draft bill of establishment

of ICT sector senior policy council

represents a UAE authorities constructive

interaction, onedirection for apromising future,

transparent policies, and difference of opinions.

The Government and the Council each has

its own reasons but the discussion ended for

favor of majority in a repeated application of

democracy that proves and confirms that the

homeland is in hearts of all its people and the

difference not conflict in opinions is for the UAE

best interest.

Indeed,wehavea right tobeoptimisticabout the

establishment of ICTsector seniorpolicycouncil

in establishing a knowledge-based economy. It

is also based on fundamental principles which

are competiveness, transparency, effectiveness,

planning, and flexibility. In addition, it can

develop and accommodate latest updates in

studies and researches.

Furthermore, we have a right to dream and

further seek that a newly-established council

will support ICT sector that is a basis of progress

to achieve a desired priority, a deserved

happiness, and required leadership dependent

on investment in human and innovation in

ideas, plans and methods.

Mgovernment magazine 30 issue sheds

light on such council establishment and

telecommunications law amendment. It

highlights the council role which will enhance

the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority

TRA role in regulating ICT sector in UAE by

segregation of the council role and terms of

reference and TRA. Accordingly, it allows TRA

to carry out its daily activities and businesses, to

communicate with the operators in the country

on a regular basis, and to achieve the country

commitments with World Trade Organization.

with an area of 550 square meters and with AED

30bn to be the world’s largest wholesale city.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

said that UAE will continue its strategic plans to

diversify the national economy a part from an

oil dependency. HHstressed that UAEhas a clear

prospective economic vision through creation

of new economic sectors and restructure of

current sectors on a new international level.

This issue also sheds light on smart hotels where

hotels around the world dedicated their efforts

to merge the modern technologies in their

hotels which reduces the operational expenses

from one hand, and ensures to acquire a special

share in hospitality sector from other hand.

Despite the fact that the digitalization of

services is expensive at a short termbut it is very

important matter indispensable for any facilities

operating in hospitality sector that seeks to

rationalize consumption at a long term.

Mgovernment magazine is keen to highlight

some applications creeping into our smart

phones but it represents risk to the user such

as children police which is an app exploits

policeman job to scare children and make

pressureuponthemtoperformsomehomework

or necessarymatters such as sleeping, eating, or

not disturbing.

This threat with police to push children to do a

job instills in them fear and loss of confidence in

parents and contributes to weakening parents

word and its effectiveness in children.

This issue also focuses on confrontation

between Apple and FBI as the former rejects to

help the latter break into the iPhone of one of

terrorists of san bernardino attacks.

In this issue also, we publish another range of

various local and international reports and news

in technology, ICT, smart phone and tablet

programs andapps, and the latestmgovernment

applications.
