Dubai Police is developing a robot to remotely
interrogate the arrested people by the public
prosecution. They will not need to be moved
from and to prison, particularly on holidays.
The new robot that is in its trial phase is part of
the smart initiatives and services provided by
Dubai Police to the public. The robot enables
the public prosecutor to see the arrested per-
son from his office, while in central detention.
He can extend the precautionary arrest as
needed according to the investigation findings.
The robot is the first of its kind as it extends the
precautionary arrest of the arrested without
the need to be physically at the prosecution of-
fice. This service saves much effort for police
officers, limits chances of prisoners’ escape,
reduces the number of required guards, saves
expenses and costs, provides the prisoner
with full privacy during interrogation and saves
and documents all sessions. The service also
facilitates the job of the public prosecutor and
gives him time to ask questions remotely on
screen, before making a decision.
Eurostar Group expects household smart
technology to grow by 100% over the com-
ing three years. This growth is coupled by
growing consumer awareness, increase in
their needs and aspirations and urban devel-
opment that relies today on higher luxurious
standards to attract buyers.
Eurostar Group said that household smart
technology and the integrated system of
devices and their operating systems have
emerged in the global and domestic mar-
kets nearly six years ago. Such technology
was initially perceived by only a few, yet it is
achieving its full potential today.
It further added that the concept of smart
homes and compatible devices needs to be
further promoted among consumers. It noted
that a large percentage of customers have
opted for smart devices rather than tradition-
al satellite broadcasting equipment.

The Telecommunications Regula-
tory Authority (TRA) said that Voice
over the Internet Protocol (VoIP) is
a regulated activity in the UAE. The
TRA said that VoIP services are still a
prerogative of the licensed providers
who reserve the right to provide such
services through their networks.
This came in a statement issued by
the TRA in commenting on reports
about VoIP services by the media
and social media users.
The TRA said that companies wish-
ing to offer such services must co-
ordinate with the licensed telecom
providers in the UAE.
The TRA highlighted its regulatory
role in this regard, particularly in
exerting efforts to develop the ICT
infrastructure, set the foundations
for smart cities and m-Government
to ensure the global pioneering and
leading position of the UAE.
