The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)

has launched the Phase II of the Electronic

Transition of Services Project, by offering

three vehicle related service online with

effect fromAugust 15th 2016. These services

are renewing vehicle registration card for

individuals, issuing vehicle registration card

in replacement of a lost one, and renewing

the retention of a licensing plate. These

services, which apply to vehicles of less than

three years in use, are accessible through

RTA website, Drivers & Vehicles app, and

self-service kiosks (Nafethati).

The launch of this phase follows the

successful completion of the initial phase of

the project launched last year targeting the

corporate sector, which resulted in pushing

the electronic transition to as much as %90.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Licensing

Agency said: “We would gradually cease

the offering of some services through

customers’ service centers starting from

August 15th. The services would be re-

routed to RTA portal

), the

smart app (Drivers & Vehicles) and the self-

service kiosks (Nafethati). The services to be

diverted are renewing vehicle registration

for individuals whose vehicles do not

require testing, issuing vehicle registration

card in replacement of a lost one, and

renewing number retention service. These

services are applicable to vehicles with less

than three years of age.”

“RTA continuously endeavors to provide

the best means & channels of delivering

services matching to the highest

international

standards

in

offering

individual and corporate services,» he

added.

The General Directorate of Residency

and foreign Affairs (GDRFA) has called on

Emiratis to renew their passports well before

the expiry date if they plan to travel outside

the country.

Colonel Ahmad Al Muhairi, Assistant

Director for Citizenship Affairs at the General

Directorate of Residency and foreign Affairs

(GDRFA), has requested Emiratis to check

the expiry dates on their passports before

planning their trips because the majority

of countries refuse entry to tourists with

passports close to their expiry date.

He said the Department of Citizenship at the

GDRFA uses the best technologies to make it

easier for Emiratis to renew their passports,

such as the smart app called GDRFA Dubai.

“The app can be downloaded and used to

request passport renewal. Users can log

on to the services of the department and

request what theyneedbyfilling the required

information, mobile number, address, and

the way they want to receive their renewed

passport. They can then proceed for

payment.”

The request to renew passport via the

smart application is easily processed as the

applicant could receive his passport through

the courier service within a working day in

the set place, whether in Dubai or any other

emirate, according to Al Muhairi.

Also, the smart application gives more

features to the applicant, including the

possibility to submit his request from

anywhere and at any time, without the

need for visiting the GDRFA headquarters or

any of its centers to renew the passport, he

asserted.
