The
Telecommunications
Regulatory
Authority (TRA) won the 21st Middle East
Smart Government &Smart Cities Excellence
for the project of Federal Network (FEDnet),
under the category of smart cities excellence
organized by the Middle East Excellence
Awards Institute according to the evaluation
results of the project, which was carried out
by experts, specialists and arbitrators based
on the Institute standards.
AbdelNasserRahmaObaidAl Shamsi, Senior
Manager for Infrastructure Management in
E-Government Operations Department at
TRA, received the award during the awards
ceremony held on the sidelines of the
22nd GCC Smart Governments and Smart
Cities Conference, in the presence of VIP,
institutions and the regional and global
media.
The FedNet provides infrastructure, which is
a joint platform to connect institutions and
federal entities within a unified electronic
network able to provide information
and technology service with high levels
of security and efficiency, monitor, and
manage their services all the time.
Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General
of the General Authority for Regulating
the Telecommunications Sector, said that
the award reflects the effectiveness and
sustainability of the authority’s projects,
achieving the highest global standards
in quality and efficiency, noting that The
Middle East Smart Government & Smart
Cities Excellence Award is one of several
global awards won by the authority.
Al Shamsi explained that TRA has
participated in the award and submitted the
project to the competent authority, which
studied the full-required standards and
evaluated the project carefully to announce
the final results. He indicated that the most
important standards adopted in this award
is to achieve the latest mechanism of smart
and effective communication between
various departments and functional systems
in the organization and applying of the best
smart strategies and other standards.
