Step by step

In this issue of smart government magazine, we present an a part

of introduction of the Arabic content manual of the governmental

websites, which has been prepared by Telecommunications

Regulatory Authority (TRA) that updated the manual recently and

published it on The Official Portal of UAE Government in order to

be available for all governmental authorities. The magazine will

continue publishing parts of this manual for the benefit of all.

The definition of content

What is meant by the phrase

«e-content»?

The content includes the text, audio, visual

materials on the website. These materials

are used through the user as a part of (User

experience). It includes the written files,

photos, audio files, videos, animation,

graphic and data, applications and services.

This document focuses on the text content.

The content production and

development team

The production and development process

of content differs from institution to another

according to thewebsite size and the content

density. Hence, the path steps passed by

this process and its team differ. Moreover,

this path shall be approved and clear and

all employees shall know their roles and

liabilities. At minimum, the content team

shall contain the roles listed inScheduleNo.1.

The content audience

Writing for internet readers

The content material addresses the visitors

of websites who live in an age characterizing

by speediness and availability of information

sources, open data and the ability to search

by websites like Google, in addition to the

interaction via social media platforms.

The Internet visitor is characterized by

the following:

- The desire to obtain the information or

service quickly; for example, we find him

eager to fill an electronic form or obtain the

phone number of the director of institution,

owner of the website.

-Heisapracticalreader,whoisnotimpressed

by the buzz sentences, oratory, does not

understand unclear texts or contents that do

not help him to reach out what he wants.

- Selective reader, who knows what he

wants and is always concerned withwhat he

searches for; furthermore, hehas nodesire to

read several paragraphs, long sentences and

consecutive pages.

- Doubtful reader, who has the tools that

enables him to verify the validity and

accuracy of information; hence, he cannot

be provided with inaccurate information.

- A reader, which has a sound judgment

and appreciates the good website, which

is designed to help him for getting what

he wants; He expresses his appreciation

through his virtual societies represented

in the social media websites and others.

Accordingly, the user who has a satisfied

experience in your website is the best way to

promote your website services and contents.

Hence, while the website visitor is a person

who tends towards rushing, youshall comply

with specifications, which make your

content well and attractive for the visitor.

How can this be?

There are two forms of webpages below; one

of them leads to reluctance and confusion

for the reader and the second makes the

reader comfortable due to compliance with

the features of internet reader and you can

judge our dear reader.
