Facebook, pressed for years by its

users to add a Facebook button “I

do not like” on its social network,

announced that it was working on the

issue with tests planned for “soon”.

“We have finally heard,” said the

CEO and founder of the group, Mark

Zuckerberg, at a session of questions

and answers open to the public in

Menlo Park in Silicon Valley.

He was responding to a question

submitted online by a network user

in Cairo, who asked him why there

were no buttons like “I’m sorry”,

“interesting” or “I do not like”.

“People calling the “I do not like”

button for many years,” admitted

Mark Zuckerberg, “and today is a

special day, because that’s the day I

can say that we are working on it and

we are close to starting a test.”.

“We do not want to transformFacebook

into a forum where people vote for or

against the people publications,” he

said. He argued that network users

primarily wanted to “express empathy”

for the sad events like death or the

refugee crisis for example.

“It is important to give people more

options than just the “like” button,”

he continued, noting that it was

“surprisingly difficult” to implement

such step.
