As per government announcement on 22 July 2020, mosques will be permitted to accommodate 50 per cent of their capacity to hold worshippers. The period between the call to prayer and prayers would be extended to 10 minutes, except for the Maghrib prayer, where the gap would be of 5 minutes. The change will come in effect on 3 August.
Earlier, on 18 July, the UAE government had allowed prayer rooms in shopping centers and towers to re-open from 20 July with a maximum occupancy of 30 per cent of the mosque’s capacity while precautionary measures were being followed.
