Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the contribution of a company to the community’s development through the provision of cash and or goods and services for the implementation of economic, social and environmental projects and developmental programmes of a country.
Ministry of Economy manages the National Fund for Corporate Social Responsibility in the UAE. The said fund aims to activate sustainable development partnerships with the public and private sector and organise and direct corporate contributions towards community development projects.
In November 2019, the National Fund for CSR established a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform for all businesses operating in the UAE. The CSR platform fosters public relationships by giving businesses a platform to support community projects in line with the UN’s sustainable developmental goals and the UAE’s priorities to build sustainable and positive communities. The online platform has metrics to rank and reward businesses who have excelled in the field of CSR. The National Fund for CSR announces the annual results which serve as a national index based on businesses’ percentage of contribution in community projects.
