Improving health services

In January 2017, the UAE Cabinet held a discussion on ways to improve healthcare services amongst other essential services. The UAE Government aims to cope with rapid changes in the healthcare scenario worldwide and improve the quality of their public services. It will achieve this through maintaining quality and introducing innovation as the foundation of healthcare. It aims to have the best health system in the world as a way to ensure happiness for all.

To achieve that, the Cabinet discussed:

a national programme to evaluate public hospitals under which, public hospitals and clinics would be evaluated for waiting time, patient satisfaction, stay duration and percentage of surgery success

the creation of a database that would help in developing policies and strategies for health

the establishment of a border public health control unit.

It also endorsed a federal regulation to combat communicable diseases, which stipulates how to report cases of diseases in animals that can infect humans and measures to handle the same.
