Launches the First Unified Traffic Awareness Campaign for 2020

The campaign comes in line with a series of major MoI campaigns during 2020 at the UAE level. He mentioned that they aim to ensure the security and safety of road users in implementation of the higher police leadership directives to ensure the highest traffic safety levels to all, promote road safety and limit road and run over accidents.


The pedestrians who cross the road from undesignated areas will be fined with AED400, and motorists who don’t give priority to pedestrians will be fined with AED500 with six black points. There is a need to spread more awareness and provide guidance for motorists; hence, it is imperative to create a sort of consciousness among drivers regarding the importance of ensuring the safety of pedestrians and adhering to traffic rules. This aims to ensure the safety of drivers, prevent them from endangering the lives of pedestrians, help them learn how to stop when needed to avoid disturbing or injuring other road users, and give priority to pedestrians in crossing the road. The importance of pedestrians’ adherence to crossing roads from designated areas. 



The statistics issued by the General Department of Traffic Coordination at the Ministry of Interior indicate that there were 275 runaway accidents, which resulted in the death of 26 people, and the injury of 285 people, ranging from minor, medium and severe, in the period from January 1 to March 31 of 2019.

 

The importance of creating a kind of awareness among the drivers of the vehicles and the need to preserve the safety of pedestrians, their commitment to traffic and traffic rules and regulations in order to preserve their safety, and not to endanger the safety of pedestrians, stopping when necessary to avoid any road user being injured, and giving priority to pedestrian crossing, especially at places The descent and rise of students in front of schools, as well as the commitment of pedestrians to cross from the places designated for them,

The Federal Traffic Board at the Ministry of Interior is implementing this campaign in cooperation with the traffic departments and patrols in the country, and other bodies concerned with traffic safety in the public and private sectors, which support these initiatives to create safe environments, . stressing the need to support efforts made by All concerned parties, and highlighting the role of the Ministry of Interior and other relevant institutions involved in the campaign’s topic

 

The campaign launched by the Ministry of the Interior  addressing  all road users, especially pedestrians, to reduce traffic accidents, educate pedestrians of the need for safe passage from the places designated for them to preserve their safety, and educate road users about the correct rules for crossing the road, use pedestrian lines, crossings, and bridges designated for this purpose, and ensure that the road is clear Before crossing, educating motorists to pay attention and focus while driving, respect pedestrian crossing lines and adhere to speed limits set within cities, or on outside streets so that they can control the vehicle, pay attention to road surprises and avoid accidents .

 

The campaign topic "Pedestrians will have the right to cross the road" will be addressed on Internet sites and dialogue sites such as forums, as well as posters, brochures and brochures of the campaign will be distributed to many public centers, filling stations, and places where the public is present, and holding informative discussion seminars. It hosts a number of officials to communicate with the public about the campaign, and the values and traffic culture it contains.
